Porto

May 11, 2019

I was super excited to share a dorm room with Anna again and add another phase to our travel-based friendship. This would also mean that my entire Portugal trip was filled with loving friendship experiences. This was so unexpected. What a stark contrast from my experience in Spain.

Lisbon

May 9, 2019

My arrival in Lisbon started with a direct visit to the apartment where Anna, Alyssa, Tame and their two friends, Arminda & Will from London, were staying. I’ve known this group for something like 15 years. We had traveled previously to Vieques, Puerto Rico. I knew we were compatible travelers.

What the fuck? It took all of this for Congress to step up??? As in they could have started working towards solutions years ago?? And this isn’t some local or state-level only situation? Our politicians SUCK.

This is what I look like today in portrait mode. 🤩 Life in Vienna was rough for the first 3 months. The next 2 months got better. Now things are legitimately very good. This is the challenge I wanted and whelp, I got it!

Thank you to everyone sup
Arrived in Novi Sad, Serbia #travel
Making my way to Belgrade via Szeged, Hungary. The first building is the opera house from the end of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. #travel
A short Sunday trip to a forest 20 minutes north of Vienna, along one of the Danube offshoots.
Architectural highlights of Vienna, taken over the last few weeks.
20 minutes north of Vienna is the charming town of Klosterneuburg. Easy train trip with beautiful hiking and good Schweinrostbraten.
Was here a few weeks ago. This is not the view from the city center but from a bridge about a 15 walk from the center.
Lunch view. The building in the foreground was rebuilt by the Rockefeller Foundation in the 1930s. #history #archaeology #athens #greece

My short trips to Israel in the past meant that I had to find as much time as possible to spend in Tel Aviv and also visit family so I couldn’t really take jaunts to places where I didn’t really want to be. During this trip, I had the time to rediscover Jerusalem..

After spending five nights in Tel Aviv, I was eager to return to nature. While Tel Aviv has magnificent beaches and eclectic neighborhoods, I wanted to go hiking. Ten months into my trip, I had been doing some form of hiking multiple times a week. Being surrounded by cars, buses, bicycles and people was overwhelming and frustrating…
